
PRIME Staff
The below people make up the core team, which works from the PRIME office in Phnom Penh. In addition to these people, PRIME also makes use of our extended network of researchers, and also our network of intern alumni who continue to stay involved with our research projects and other activities.
John Humphreys - Executive Director
John did his B.Econ(hon) and PhD at the University of Queensland, where he also worked as a Visiting Lecturer of Economics. He worked previously for the Australian Treasury, the Centre for International Economics, and the Centre for Independent Studies. In addition to PRIME, John is the President of the Human Capital Project and a part-time lecturer at Zaman University.
Benjamin Johnson - Research Director
Benjamin graduated from the University of Western Australia with a B.A. in International Relations and Japanese and M.Comm specializing in finance. He has undertaken further studies in Japan, Taiwan and China as well as participating in an internship at PRIME in Cambodia in 2015. Ben has previously worked for Ernst and Young in the international tax team as a consultant.
Binn Chanveasna - Research Officer
Veasna majored in International Relations at Pannasastra University of Cambodia (PUC). Before working at PRIME, Veasna was an assistant to the Vice President of Pannasastra University. Currently, he oversees the Human Capital Project (HCP) at PRIME. Veasna is currently researching property rights in Cambodia.
Paula Garcia - Research Officer
Paula holds a Master´s degree in International Law and undergraduate degrees in Law and in Political Science, from different universities in Madrid, Spain, where she is originally from. She moved to Cambodia in 2014 to do an internship at the Cambodian Center for Human Rights (CCHR), and she remained in the country doing volunteer consultancy work for organizations working in human rights and governance, while working at an international school; until she joined PRIME in 2016. Paula is also a lecturer of International Law at the Royal University of Law and Economics (RULE) and of International Relations at Zaman University.
Elise De La Pisa - Human Resources Officer
Elise graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering from the Cebu Institute of Technology and Bachelor of Secondary Education Major in Math in the Philippines. She previously worked at Microsoft, British Telecom, DELL, Vonage, and Telstra. Elise also worked as a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity Philippines and Children’s Joy Foundation.
Sreymon Mab - Intern
Sreymom is an Intern Research assistant at PRIME. She has a law degree from the University of Puthisastra. Currently, she’s also pursuing another Bachelor degree in majoring in English and Professional Communication at the Institute of Foreign Languages which she will complete at the end of January 2017. She has previous experience working in customer relations, general administration and real estate. She has also been involved in many community works, contributing to children’s education and hygiene and is passionate about finding ways to improve Cambodia’s economic development.
Tomas Piqueras - Intern
Tomas is currently finishing his degree in Business Management, he began his studies at the University CEU San Pablo in Spain, but now he is currently studying at the University Hochschule Mainz in Germany. He has previously worked in SFL as well as published some economic articles in the Spanish media. He maintains a particular focus on financial markets and economic inequality. Tomas will be interning at PRIME in February and March of 2017.
Horm Sothanuth
Horm Sothanuth is in her third year of studying International Relations at Norton University. She has previously worked in customer service while undertaking her studies. She is currently interning at PRIME and is researching credit growth in Cambodia.
Eliot Metherell - Adjunct Researcher
Eliot studied at the University of Macquarie in Sydney and has worked in customer service and the education industry. He shares his time between Sydney and Phnom Penh, and has done research on lifestyle policy and the finance industry.
Gabrielle Ward - Adjunct Researcher
Gabby graduated from the University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Arts. She has previously worked in Indigenous land rights law (Australia), for the United Nations Environment Programme (Kenya), and lecturered at the University of Management and Economics (Kampong Cham). Gabby started at PRIME as the Research Director, before returning to Australia in January 2016.
Prum Seila - Adjunct Researcher
Prum Seila graduated from the Royal University of Phnom Penh's Department of Media and Communication in 2010. He made a series of documentaries funded by the US Embassy in Phnom Penh and became director of reality TV program Youth Leadership Challenge. In late 2014 he graduated his Master Degree from the University of Philippines Los Banos.
